With standard factory settings today however, it is impossible to accomplish this without doing some modifications to the car itself. While these are designed to perform at a higher level in the first place, additional modifications can help it reach that maximum threshold for the best performance possible. One of the best and more simple ways to get a little extra speed out of your car is to install a bigger engine. While a .21 engine is typically the standard size you will find on a nitro RC car, upgrading to a .30 engine will greatly increase your overall speed and get your vehicle cruising better than you could have ever imagined.

Cutting down on resistance is always a great way to increase your overall speed, and reducing your rolling resistance is one of the best ways you can do this. Your tires will already have stock bearings installed to allow them to spin freely or with a little more drag. If you upgrade to more top of line bearings however, the wheels will spin much more freely, allowing you to accelerate faster and help you hit top speed easier. Brake pads can also be a big resistance factor, and making sure these are free from the brake discs is an easy way to cut down on resistance.

Another great modification that is a quick fix you may not have thought of before is to swap out the stock tires for larger ones. Taller tires are just like adding an extra gear. With the ability to cover more ground with each revolution of the wheel, you will be hitting top speed in no time at all.
